starter issues and ideintificaion
Occasionally my starter grinds on starting (about every other day) so I though I'd change it. Called the local parts store and gave them all my info and they asked if my starter has a nose cone on it or not. I haven't taken it off yet to look at it, I wanted to buy it first then remove it. Does anyone have any ideas which trucks had the nose cone or which did not? My truck is a 2009 CCLB, v10, 4x4, 6spd. manual trans.

in this case.... you will NEED to remove the starter.. several sources ... your truck COULD have one or the other...
my advice... get both.. and return the one not needed... and the core.
not the cheapest.. but no Wrong starter..

I agree with above. When I am working at the shop and there is no way to quickly identify part I will have them send both and return the unused one. In my case time is money and I don't want a bay tied up waiting on parts. I know it's a pain in the rear for parts people but that's what they get paid for.
