2008 Manual Trans
Hello, I have a 2008 Ranger 4x4, 4.0 with 410s, 5 speed manual trans, tires are 255/70/16. I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a 6 speed manual trans that will bolt up to a 4.0. The problem I have is with my new job I'm on the highway a lot more with speeds at 70 mph, I'm running at around 2700 to 2800 RPMs at 70. I thought maybe a weak/slipping clutch and had it replace 1 1/2 years ago. but that did not fix it. my last job I really did not mind the high RPMs because I was not on the highways too much. if no tranny swap can I put in a taller gear for 5 gear. I had the truck built with the 410's because I tow and use it for farm work. and now with my new job. Swapping out the 410s is not going to happen. Sorry

No known direct tranny swap nor internal tranny gear swap. Given that swapping out the 410's isn't desired, the only other way to slow things down and lessen the drinking problem that begins around 60mph would be larger diameter tires. Truth be told, numerically high axle ratios and great gas mileage on the freeway normally don't go hand-in-hand; the vehicle owner gets to choose/compromise between bottom end torque or low revs and higher freeway mileage.
