Oooo....Shiney! Look what came in thr mail!!

These are brand new Alliant 160/80 injectors. I have fought my 160/30 remans for over 6 years and had nothing but problems. I decided to bite the bullet and stick new ones in. UDP sold them to me for what they pay since I had already purchased the remans. I will be posting my comparison after I get them installed this week. I have years of MPG data, Rotational velocity tests, smoke videos and my thoughts on how it idles.

Awesome, now will your tuning have to be adjusted for the larger nozzles?

The bigger nozzles will dump too much fuel and make for a very jumpy throttle with 30% tuning.

Finally finished it up today. I started her up and shifted through the gears and there were no odd noises. I lost my trans temp sender somewhere in my disaster of a garage, so ordered a new one along with a pressure gauge. I want to make sure I’m getting the correct line pressure before I drive it.

Jason, what was the problem with the 160/30s?

Yeah... I have that tee shirt. I don't know how finely-tuned your "aural sensor" is, but new injectors sound noticeably more snappy to me. The coils are pretty too.

The tune will be stinky and smoky, so that will need some tweaking.

I know you have been through the reman/ new thing already and is a part of the reason for the decision. I have been fighting them for way too long. I have had GH and Cody write tunes trying to clear them up/make them run better to no avail. EVERYTHING got worse with the remans not better. Idle, mpg, smoke (not a little, alot). I don't think my anything (aural or anything else) is as fine tuned but I am sure I will be able to tell. I am optimistic.

It's a long story but the short version is I have been through 18 reman sticks and none have worked to my liking, smoke, idle, rotational velocity, mpg........ I have been told and read several times that the 160/80 is easier to tune vs the 160/30. I also like the idea of a non modified nozzle. From what I understand to get a 160/30, a 160/0 has to be modified.

I will go through the whole thing when I lost my findings after installing.

Jason, will the van turbo/billet wheel provide enough air for the 160/80's? I'm forgetting if you were considering another turbo or if this one should do the job.

Primarily it was because of Tugly's experience and solid recommendation to go new why I purchased brand new (albeit modified) 175/80's from PIS prior to the business being sold and going downhill according to the interwebs. I think that Full Force diesel would be the go to for used if that was the need however.

I also agree the OP will need new tuning as the 80 nozzle will be smokey if the PW is not reduced. After the tuning, I'll bet you'll love them. Let us know!!

I honestly don't know. My wife and I had already considered an SXE. We have fought high EGTs. We have a cab over truck camper (will have an 8k but per pull within the year). It is about 3k fully loaded and we had to drive by EGTs on our 1600 mile trip last summer. We shouldn't have to do that. I have a gen 2 WW in the van turbo right now. I believe it is the RR 6/6.

We will see what happens with the new sticks. I would prefer more low end air as, like Sous, I care more about towing than big power.

If you reduce your PW for the new injectors could that help reduce EGT's?

Can't wait to see how it goes Jason. Hope it all works well for you. But I think you ticket will be the T4 SXE set up for complete EGT control. But then again, Cody could probably fix it the way it is. Mitt pull a little power but it should still be plenty for what your doing.
Brad, glad it's all in. Almost called you to do a scan for me. Truck started some weird things coming to idle the last week. Still don't know if it's the torq convertor going in and out or something else. Cleaned the ICP and seems to be better. I have an extra one so I mitt just change it out. Leaving Tuesday for a few days with the 5th wheel, wife and dog, we will see how it goes. Planned to go to Death Valley but the camp is full. We will see.

Yes that is my thought process. I mean I shouldn't have high EGTs with my set up anyway but a bigger nozzle can drop the fuel faster so I would think lower EGTs. However I don't write tunes so I can only speculate.
