Injector additives?

Injector additives?
never used any additives in my excursion 6.0 but have an injector sticking when cold (rough idle, smooths as warms. Gone at normal op temp). Rather work on it in spring and have replaced injectors in past. Anyway, even if it’s just a temporary fix any suggestions on fuel additives. Even better would be some past experiences of what worked and what didn’t.

What oil are you using? Since going to synthetic 5w-40 I haven’t had any injector stiction issues
Even when starting with an oil temp of 10F. Whereas before using Motorcraft 15w-40 or 10w-30 it’d run rough for a bit when started at oil temp under 50, and wouldn’t start at all with oil temp under 20

Oh wow, i thought my stiction was bad. won't start under 20? When I did my last oil change i added got shot and used 15w40, didn't think I would be driving it in the cold as I still have my 250 plow truck, but I missed the diesel to much and drove her a few times. It will start on its own with no heater plugged in down to 8 oil temp so far. My "missing" feeling doesn't completely go away until Temps are between 180 and 190. It's real bad up till 150ish, now I understand I should have spent a little more money on the 5w40, and will from now on. Now as far as the hot shot goes, I'm not sure how well it is working being so cold here in Michigan, but I tried it based on others saying it works. I would have used archoil had it been available locally. I only have about 600 miles on this oil, so I will see how well it works in a couple thousand more and try to five you a report. I am not sure how well a fuel additive alone will help, but I don't think it can hurt. I have been using both hot shot oil and fuel additives since the last oil change and I believe when warm I can tell the difference, just hard to say with the Temps being so cold and the 15w40 in it how well its really working.

Yep, my truck that wouldn’t start below 20F oil temp using conventional 15w-40 or 10w-30 will start at an oil temp under 10F and purr smoothly within 3 seconds of starting using 5w-40 synthetic. No additives. I’ve found my truck seems to like Valvoline Extreme Blue 5w-40 vs Mobile 1 TDT or Rotella T6

My results with 5W-40 synthetic and Archoil 9100 have made winter driving a non-event. Smooth starts and quiet running within one or two minutes is the norm. Plugging in the heater when well below freezing guarantees instant performance as if the truck had been running warm already. I have a bad glow plug, but would never know it unless the CEL wasn't lit. I use the Ford cetane enhancer in summer and the Ford anti-gel/enhancer in winter. It has reduced rolling coal to a distant memory and is pretty cheap. My 2006 gets 17-20 on the highway at 62 mph and 14-16 loaded with my 3300 lb. slide-in camper. I have tried several other fuel treatments such as Optilube and Power Service products but have settled on the Ford additive -- for purely subjective reasons. I have seen Hot Shot work in friend's diesels but prefer the Archoil additive. 180K and absolutely no injector issues... yet.
There are others here that use different products with varying levels of success. Try more than one, but give each a chance in order to form an opinion. I believe additives can enhance operation and prolong component lifetimes and I am a believer in the lighter synthetic oils. With the price of these machines becoming ridiculous it is better to pay a small amount over time versus a large repair bill or replacement cost one day in the future. I intend to drive mine until it rusts out or gets crushed.

I did some experimenting with Archoil 9100 and shots of videos that I post on
YouTube both cold and hot running with ideas showing the noncompensated injector trace.
I posted pre-additive and post additive videos along with different mileage intervals.
if you want I can add the links to the videos

Ple ase do Sean! I don’t have stiction issues but am interested.
