Is there a way to get constant or key on power to the embedded modem?
I work 12+ hours out of my truck and send reports with my laptop. I have to run the engine to get power to the modem for my hotspot. And my engine idle hours are racking up.
Edit: It works with key on/engine off, but power to everything. I'll just have to be sure my lights and blower motor are off.
Power on through an always on Upfitterr switch, that way, if you want to leave upfitter 5 on, and have switched it to always on, your modem will have power, but if you want to leave it off, just turn off the switch. That way it’s not always running at home, but on at work.

That's what I'm trying to figure out how to do. I'm not tech savvy, but if someone shows Pics of where the wires I need to cut and spice, I can get it done.
When I am sitting in my truck at work with the truck powered down completely, I just push the power button on the radio and sync turns on. I’m not sure how long the timeout is on that feature. I don’t have to even hit the push start button once. Anyone know the factory timeout on that?

Eek, I was planning on using the hotspot modem to work in my truck camper.
So I have some clarifying questions:
Does the engine needs to be running to use the hotspot ?
Or.
Can the hotspot work on accessory and if so there is there a automatic timed shut off of the accessory mode?
And.
If either of those are true, is it possible/easy to change the powering of the modem to one of the upfitter switches?

I figured out yesterday: the modem works with key on engine off. Does not work in ACC. I'm in the process of finding out about the upfitter switch.
