I'm down in Florida. Weather in the 70s, so I shouldn't need the A/C, but the cab of this XL stays about 85 degrees with the windows up. Not the sun, it's the same at night. I turn the temp all the way cold and switch to dash air (no A/C) thinking I should get cool outside air, but it's lukewarm. My A/C leaks freon (one of the projects I need to get to) - usually a can will last a couple of months in the summer. I've run like that the last two summers just fine, although I assume it gets worse the longer I let it go. I didn't put any in over the winter, so it prolly needs several cans now - or better yet, I could fix the leak. (I don't know A/C tech and hate paying to get stuff fixed - cheap, stupid person that I am.)
Anyway, is this just the way XLs are, without much firewall/floor insulation? Or, do I have a duct/modulator issue?
I should know more about these trucks, but...I don't. I know that on my class 8 work truck, if don't shut off the heater core spigot in warm weather, it over powers the AC in the tractor. Maybe your superduty is flowing hot coolant when it shouldn't??FWIW .. My 05 XL is not oppressive in mild weather w/o AC.

I purchased my truck in 2004, it's the Lariat version. Soon after, my employer purchased a cab and chassis F350 with the 6.0 Powerstroke. I rode in the company vehicle fairly often and remembered thinking it had a lot more interior noise, especially engine noise, than my personal truck. I'd think there was a noticeable difference in the amount of insulation materials used.
