I'm not certain but I seriously doubt it, I don't see you getting the cylinder head bolts out.. hell you may not even be able to get the valve covers off.
I removed the valve covers from an '02 with the 5.4l in place, didn't go any further than that though. I can't remember exactly how tough it was other than I didn't have lots of choices for deep sockets or wobble extensions, seems like I used a combination wrench and standard 1/4 socket (PITA)... whole upper intake was off at the time for sure, fuel rail, injectors, plugs etc. seems there was heat shield/sound deadening material that I slipped out to get 1/2" more room at some point but that van was headed for scrap so you're results may vary.
