I just got a new f250 crewcab 4x4 diesel, first Ford I have ever owned. My last pickup was a 2014 Ram 2500 (cummins). What I was wondering is how do you figure out which GCVWR this truck has, the lower 23000 or the higher 25700?
Here is the Ford Towing Guide. The answer to your question is based on whether or not your F-250 has the High Capacity tow package. It is option code 535 and you'd have to check your window sticker or something. It increases the rear axle to the same as the F-350, but others can tell you how to identify rear axles. If you have factory 20" wheels, then you don't have the tow package.

Reason: Adding "High Capacity" descriptor to reduce ambiguity
Thanks for the info, yes it does have the factory 20" wheels. It only says "trailer tow package" on the window sticker, no code numbers. Is there any other differences with that package, spring rates or something? Very hard to find any information on it.
As part of standard features, every super duty has a Tow Package. This, among other things, gives you your 7-Pin/4-Pin connections out back.
535 is the optional "Tow Package - High Capacity." This gives you the larger rear axle and higher GVWR/GCWR. It requires the 6.7 diesel. It's not available with the de-rated 9,900 GVWR package, 20" wheels, and a few other things. If you have 20" factory wheels, you don't have this package and, therefore, have the lower GCWR. You can look this up in the Towing Guide I linked to above.

Good luck.
Are you sure about this? I have a 2018 Platinum that definitely has the High Capacity Tow Package and the standard 20” wheels.
Yeah, on closer inspection, the option is more specific to the 20" chrome wheels. I've attached the order guide and here is a screen capture from that guide.

Here's what comes with the package, according to the Ford website: (The 20" Platinum tow package wheels look identical to the standard Platinum wheels)

Includes:
• Increased GCW on diesel engine from 23,500 lbs. to 25,700 lbs.
• Upgraded axle
• 20-inch Polished Aluminum Wheels (Platinum only)

On the 2017 at least, it also got you the 3 inch hitch.
F250, with the above sticker, has the heavy tow package.
I will check the hitch sticker, but I when I read that what it says from the order guide ;NA w/10000 GVWR/9900 GVWR What are they trying to say, not available with both of those?

F250s are limited to 10000 GVWR. The item that is listed as NA is the 'derate to 9900'. The 9900 trucks are the same as the 10000's, except on paper.
The 3 inch hitch, which is rated for 21K, rather then the 2.5 rated for 15K, and the Dana axle are the give away. The number of rear leafs is also there, but I think the Camper package also adds a leaf.
If you have the window sticker will will be listed. About 5 from the bottom on mine.
