I just connected my autometer gauges and i have a few questions . i tapped into the MAP sensor line for the boost gauge how responsive should the needle be , are they fast or kinda slower and how much boost should it carry i went for a road test it went to about 10 lbs. On my trans temp gauge after about a half hour of average driving it was 150 was that about right . now i tapped into switched fuse and when you shut the key off the gauge doesnt turn off til you open the door whats up with that.
You might have tapped the fuse for the stereo, it does'nt lose power until the door is open. Just an idea though?
I have a question though, where is the map sensor located? I am getting ready to hook up the boost gauge in my '01 PSD and I heard that is the best place to tap into. Where did you run the line through the fire wall at? Is your boost gauge pretty responsive or is it slow? I would think it should be pretty responsive.
just tap into one of the wires under the steering column. I believe that red is switched and yellow is hot all the time. check for your self first with a test light. Thats where i got my power for my guages and keyless entry. Anyone have an oil pressure guage? If so, where did you get the adapter for the sending unit?
If you're looking at the engine straight on from the front, the MAP sensor is located on the back left of the engine bay, mounted right under the lip next to the AC components. There is an electrical plug as well as a 1/4 inch hose attached to it with a red clip. The hose runs over to what I think is the intake manifold. I used a T tap to connect, but have since bought a pre fabbed hose with a pressure relief valve and a house coming off with a brarss fitting to hook up the boost hose to. Not real sure about how well that relief valve is working though because I'm still overboosting and tripping the SES light sometimes under really hard acceleration. To hook up lights for your guages, tap into the blue and white wire behing the light switch. It's tricky to get the switch out, but a very small screwdriver will help. If you can get the Haynes manual, it has wiring schematics that can help you pick a place to hook up the power for the guages as well if they require it. I tapped into the steering column for my pyro and it works like a champ. I'll see if I can check which wire it was and let ya know.
