Question for the masses...My 2014 F250 needs to have the bed removed to repair some damage from dropping a gooseneck onto it. A body shop told me that the bed bolts have to be replaced as they are a one time use. This made no sense to me, and told them so. Just put some more Blue Loktite and put them back in. Has anyone heard of this?
Can’t speak for my 11 but I have had the bed off my 99 several times. No issues at all I use anti seize when I put them back in and no noises or anything here. Could be different on the newer trucks but I’d doubt it.
In the salt belt of New York, the truck beds are held in place with the taillight wires. I wouldn't cheap out on things like head bolts, but I would reuse these for sure.
I had the bolts pulled to add a Line-X liner and they do have some popping in the right front bed bolt. The dealer said it was common for them to make that noise after being removed. Mine's a '13..
