Hi,
We don't do a lot of night driving with the Ex, but a recent trip in bad weather really hit home the need for better headlights. We have a 2005 XLT with the stock headlights. But I'm confused as to what we need. Can we just change hi/low beams, or do we have to change out the whole headlight assembly? If so, how expensive/hard is this to do?
Get the Sylvania Silverstars. You will not be disappointed.
the silverstars have a coating on the bulb to simulate the temperature of a HID, i prefer the xtravison sylvania without the coating since the coating cuts down on lightout slightly even if it is a whiter light. to each their own i suppose

Pirate is correct. I checked mine, and I am running the Xtravision bulbs on my EX.

Welcome to the FTE! There are drop in headlight replacements and much more available in the aftermarket. HID & LED bulbs can be used in the OEM headlight units directly, but IMO they put out some crappy light as there is severe loss of light. LED/HID should always be paired with a quality projector setup, but those do not come cheap. Search around on the forum and you will find a lot of information about drop in headlights, designs, upgrades to newer styles etc.. There's plenty of information to read and absorb.
