Looking for opinions on reputable injectors. Looks like I will be needing a set. Mechanic recommended Pensacola reman's. They are offered in stock, 40, and 70 hp. Stock turbo and hpop on the truck. He runs a set of 70's and loves them, but his turbo is slightly over stock. The truck has an x4 so custom tunes are definitely doable. Just wondering what everybody is running.
I forgot to mention I need to stay in that same price range. My local dealer is a nightmare to get prices out of, any idea what they run for a set?
set as in all 8?? youll be looking at a couple thousand... dealership prices range from 280-350 each... normally with diesels we dont replace them all at the same time... usually we replace only the ones showing the drop in readings or are setting codes...
Yes it will most likely be a full set. I feel like an idiot but i googled it and KD has them for around 1400. You said ford reman so my mind went straight to the stealership. New to me truck and it looks like a couple sticks are hung open. Hard start, tons of black smoke, and a really rough idle for about 10 seconds before it dies. But back on topic, if it needs injectors, I'd rather replace the set and know what I've got than try to guess what is on them or what they are. It will also be getting a brand new bpd oil cooler Friday.
sometimes the problem isnt actually the injectors.... could be lack of compression or even poor heat... as with all engines its a 4 part problem... Heat (or spark for gassers) + Compression + air + fuel = boom.. loss of any one of these would cause problems... not enough heat the fuel wont ignite... not enough air the fuel wont burn completely.. same with compression.... you need to find the root of where the problem actually is...
and as for the glow sticks.. thats another thing youll want to stick with the factor ones for... keep in mind these trucks came with 2 different sizes for the glow sticks.. for yours though since its an 06 youll need the ZD-13's... part number 4C3Z-12A342-AA
Sorry for the confusion, but by sticks I meant injectors. The glow plugs have been working great. -1 last week and not plugged in and it still fired up easy. He is running diagnostics on it tomorrow so we will see what we find out. It ran fine one day and wouldn't start the next. No sign of any issues before hand. I will update when I know more. Just trying to get ahead of the game and have an idea what I want before it comes time to order. If I were to upgrade to 40hp injectors, I assume I would need to go to custom tuning?
ahh... thought you meant the glow sticks since thats usually what people were referring to when they say sticks lol.. sadly theres alot of things that can play into these trucks running crappy because theyre so electronically controlled... and i can tell you quite a few of us have found shorts in the wire harnesses... i personally had the 2 wires that ran to the turbo solenoid were missing their insulation right next to each other... they would randomly rub against each other and cause turbo issues... little solder.. little heat shrink and electrical tape took care of it for me... others have had similar stories going to their injectors...
yes you would need some new tuning to compensate for the change in the fueling parameters...
When it comes to injectors Ford or Alliant Power.
You can get both from along with other things from >>> FICMRepair.com - FORD Powerstroke 6.0 FICM Repair, PHP Tuning and Truck Parts
and they will still have the for the Ford injectors the full 2 year warrantee. You will have to check on the Alliant Power ones.
It seems that everyone kicks the 6.0L and says it just costs too much. One of the biggest reasons it costs a lot is people throwing parts at it.
The rule you should be going by is test first so that you can diagnose the probelm. Then once you know you buy the parts for the repair.
Replacing all eight injectors without first knowing if they are ok is the same as throwing parts at it and hopping something will stick to it and fix it.
I have over 10k on mine and not one issue BUT you have to have everything else working flawlessly. There’s no middle ground.
3 year/100,000 mile warranty
I'm not going to buy em unless it is the diagnosed fix. But I'd rather know what injectors I want to buy and where to get them before I have to have to have them. I would like to get an increase in power like the Pensacola's offer, but reliability is more important. Unfortunately Pensacola is the only company that I see offering the higher hp remans.
