Do you mean the hose from the air cleaner to the valve cover? If so it's just a breather. Unlike older cars or hotrod motors where the breather is that dopey little thing hanging out of a valve cover, our breathers go to the air cleaner, so the smoke and smell of burning oil gets sucked into the carb and forced out the tailpipe, rather than be blown out into the air where we can smell it and see it all over out valve covers.
If you mean the canister thing, that's an ignition coil.
The wires directly under your arrow are spark plugs wires.

sorry, a little below the arrow. The big silver thing that looks like it’s where the PCV valve usually is. It has a 460 so the ignition coil is on the other side of the
motor, isn’t it?
Nope my 460's could is in the same spot and my truck is set up the same. PCV comes out the passenger valve cover at the back and the breather is on the driver's front and attaches to the air cleaner. The breather is a can (either silver or black) that has a steel wool type mesh element in it to filter out particles of junk so they don't enter the carb, hence why it's a small canister type thing instead of just a nipple and hose.
this is the 460 in my '77 when I bought it. Note the hose above the coil. That's the one that goes to the air cleaner. Also note could and PCV locations.
