Simple hose routing question

78 F150 4X4 with C6 auto and a 351M engine. There are 2 valve covers. One cover (the driver's side) has the PCV valve in it towards the front of the truck. Other cover (passenger side) has a simple elbow on it towards the firewall. Right now the passenger side simple elbow goes to the air cleaner, and the PCV goes to the rear of the carb (probably vacuum). Should the PCV go to the air cleaner and the regular elbow to the rear base of the carb instead? Reason I ask is I was watching an auto show last weekend and a similar ford motor looked like they had the PCV going to the front of the air cleaner.

Thanks

Stan

My 78 F-150, in its original configuration, routes the pcv valve from the driver's valve cover on the front to the base of the carburetor. The other valve cover vents to the back of the air cleaner on the passenger side.
