Hey Coolbeans,
Thought you were taking pics of my truck when seen the ball on a string under it (just like my sons) but then I seen your exhaust crosses under the motor, mine broke there and I had to run it straight back for now. I'll see if I can scan some of my old pics and take a few now with the dig. and try and figure out how to post them in the gallery. Looks like you've got something in really good shape to start with. Are you going to stay 6v or switch to 12V. Is the body in good shape too?
LOL, I never paid attention to that,.. I had this little pomerainian, durn thing weighed about a pound, and that was her favorite toy.
MAN, I miss that dog.
Anyway, I had to change over to 12v because we moved here to Wyo. and it was waaayyy too cold for that truck to start every am in the winter.(it was my only transportation for about a year) So I had to do a quick conversion job, the restoration will be flawless,I hope!
As far as the body, I just added a pic of the front to my 53 eng. gallery, and save for a real small dent on the right frt. fender lip, the rest of the truck is as good as the front. Thats a blanket hanging off the bumper that I cover the truck with.
Adding pics can be fun, I find sizing them to 640x480 pixels and saving them as a .jpg format is pretty user friendly. Your dig. camera should have the software to do all that easily, then just create your album and upload your pics! Cool, huh?
lol. Man I sure wish my hood and grill looked that good. Hood is pretty trashed along the front may not be able to save it. My truck was used at a Texaco station for years, the guy bolted a 2x6 on the bumper and would push cars around. Needless to say he bent a few things. Frames straight, bumper looks like a snake crawling through the grass, bent in the center of grill and broke both buckets off (then he brazed them back on. I've managed to collect 4 grills with various problems which I think I can make 1 good one. We'll see, its only time. lol
That's a pretty clean truck Coolbeans. Need to buff up that air cleaner though.
Really though, I didn't realize there were that many people that liked the 53. I'll have to hook my scanner back up and get my gallery going. I've got a 50th F250 that I'm making into a wrecker. I think it came that way but I didn't like the unit on the back. Found a 53 Holmes 330 hand crank that should look pretty good on there. My neighbors might say diff though.
I've got the green engine and it had "6" decal on the valve cover. Is this supposed to be ALL green? I noticed your black one.
Before I do that, I better go get a 6-pack,(for medicinal purposes) cuz my arm's sure to be sore buffing up that hugh air cleaner!
I don't know why ford did that, but I have seen another all green 6 in a 53 f-250, maybe it has more torque?? Industrial strength, so to speak. This f-250 was a tow truck as well.
Thank you all for the props on the truck, this is mine & my wife's project, little by little we will have it shinin' some day.
Threaten the scanner within an inch of it's life,(that usually works for me). You were saying your hood may not be fixable?
It just so happens I have a near perfect '54 hood lyin around that I dont need. I can make you such a deal!!
Well Coolbeans, If you were'nt 2000 miles away I'd rush right over and look at it. Will certainly kind it in mind. I'd like a better one but waiting on a friend of mine to look at it and get his take on mine. Shoot me an email if you interested in talking about it somemore. It'll be a couple weeks before I take mine off and get a good look at it. Thanks for the offer.
