Thanks for the picture and measurement. Given the 4 1/2" measurement your plan to built a dash extension is the right thing to do.
Are you going to keep an operational cowl vent?

John, Thanks for responding. I measured where I could locate the unit. I definitely want to keep the cowl vent. Given the length of the unit at 20 1/2" I would have to lose the rest of the glove box. I currently have one half of the original glove box.
