Help to ID connector

Can anyone tell me what this connector is called and what it's purpose is? 99 F350. Thanks!

Very difficult to pick out a single connnector under the hood. Can you trace where one side goes to?

I can sure try my best, I have a lot of difficulty physically but I'll see what I can do. Was hoping someone might know what it was offhand. Thanks!

I found this thread where the OP had the exact same connector problem, but it's pretty old and dead and nobody actually identified the connector in the thread. I thought I'd post it here in case anyone might want to read the first part and hopefully be able to ID and give me a hand. Thanks again.

Ok, that link helped. That connector is c130. It has something to do with dual alternators. Apparently some trucks had wiring that was setup to plug in dual alternators, and that is what this plug is all about. I don't think any of the wires are that important on this plug except the lightgreen/red wires if you have a single alternator. I believe you are going to have charging problems if the lightgreen/red is not jumped through, that is what the plug is doing in a single alternator configuration, it is jumping out the lightgreen/red. All the other wires don't seem to be used unless you have dual alternators.

Ford's offical name for this in the diagrams is called "Dual Generator Giveaway" wiring.

Thank you sir!! I have a single alternator setup, but am not getting a charge to my batteries and am trying to get to the issue. New alt, batts, fuses are good, grounds are solid...which led me to thinking maybe this had something to do with it. I'll try and find a retailer that carries the c130 connector and maybe it might help.

I believe all you really need to do is find the two lightgreen/red wires coming from the harness, and twist them together. That should get you charging again. Right now when you turn the key to run but do not start the engine, you do not have a battery light or alternator light correct? Tie these two wires together and that should come on, and then go out when you start the engine.

I went through the entire Ford connector catalog, searched every parts site I could find and can't find this connector anywhere. I think I might have to take it to Ford...

Why are you worried about keeping this connector all original? I know some people worry about such things and want to keep their truck all original, but the cat is out of the bag now. Your wiring is permanently messed up. So any sort of repair to make it electrically whole should work.

I look at my vehicles as a collection of parts put together by a car company, for my use to get around and haul stuff. I try to keep them going anyway I can, with the realization that I could pull out of my driveway and at anytime the whole thing could end up in a accident and in the junkyard.

It sounds like I am being critical, but I am not, I am concerned your truck is not being able to run just because of a connector that does not really matter. I will warn you, if you take it to Ford they will probably fix the wiring without the connector. I have seen them do that to our company trucks..

I'm just trying to get it back to running the only way I know how. The green wire coming from the connector is messed up beyond repair, and the best way that I know of is to replace it. Not taking you critically, I appreciate your help.

The diagram below is what I am thinking you have. I believe the problem is that lightgreen/red wire that comes from the cluster, goes through the c130 connector, and then continues to the alternator. You can see connector c130F is just the female connector that bridges this wire across to two terminals on c130m, which is the male side of connector c130. If you can unwrap the harness some, cutting away the covering if you have to, and find the lightgreen/red heading toward the alternator, and the other lightgreen/red heading inside the cab to the cluster, and connect these together, I think you will be in business.

Here's a photo of the connector after I removed it, it's just the green wire coming from the back of the male end. The female end with the pigtail going into the harness is fine.

There should be two green wires going into that plug, if I am looking at the diagram correctly.

Yes you're correct. It looked to me like the green wire came out of the end and looped back into the connector in a closed circuit.
