Arrow Engine Bay Fires ??

It seem lately I have seen more than a few trucks suffer from an engine bay fire that did not seem to be related to the cruise control issue. Does anyone know what has been happening to these trucks? I'd like to figure out how to inspect for the issue and prevent it.

Bought a fire damaged salvage truck a while back. Damage seemed to have started from a ruptured fuel line at the back of the engine. Resulting fire melted the wiring harness around the windshield wiper motor.

I had a bit of suspicion that fuel rail connections might be a possible cause.

Same thing happened to my truck three years ago; before my original engine died(300 six), it was suffering from a very severe case of blow-by. As the condition progressed, I started chasing oil leaks....first the bottom side cover, then the oil pan, then the top valve cover. Soon I started seeing oil in my radiator as well as oil coming out of the air box. Then my PCV valve kept popping off. And that’s what finally killed it....the PCV popped off and a back fire from a crack in the rear of the exhaust manifold ignited the oil mist spray that was spewing from the PCV grommet. Luckily, the resulting fire was small and burned a small portion of the rear fuel rail wiring harness. This gave me the perfect excuse to do my 351 swap!

I read somewhere, I don't know how true it is, the claim was that while gasoline is most definitely flammable and can and will burn a truck to the ground, engine oil may be just as dangerous, maybe more in some cases. Fuel leaks will often evaporate quickly, not the case with oil (or grease). Always carry a good sized fire extinguisher.
