Hi all ,
I have a 16 f150 with a 6' box. I am looking to get a hard tonneau cover for it.
I like the BAK Revolver 4, was wondering if anyone had one of these and what they thought of it.
I like the idea of the roll up verses the fold up since it leaves the bed wide open and don't fully block the rear window.
Any Ideas?
I have Fords version of the Back Flip 4, it only covers 4 " of bed when folded up which is the least of any hard cover. I didn't like any of the canister roll up as they take almost a foot of bed space. Had a one peice hard cover and hated it, When you were away from home and need to haul a large purchase that woun't fit under the cover what do you do with it? Around town at home I just poped it off and left it in the garage. But if you are 200-300 miles from home you either have to rent a trailer or make to trips if you can fine a place to stash it. but it ruined a good buy because of the extra cost. The only good thing was it didn't leak.
By the way your bed is nominal 6.5 ft there is no 6 ft bed. Ford only has 5.5, 6.5 and 8 ft. Some places say 6ft 7", the reason I say nominal 6.5 ft. But if you go to Ford.com and build a truck it is the same as always 5.5, 6.5 and 8.0.
The reason I went with the hard fold up is becase it is extremely secure compaired to a lot of other covers, the latches are massive compared to most covers. you can just fold it up 2/3 of the way or all the way. The Back Flip is a litte cheaper than the Ford cover normally, My dealer made me a very good deal on mine. I love it. it has a couple small leaks that I think I have figured out a fix for, I will try it and post it when it warms up some.
The nice thing about a couple of the roll-up tonneau covers is that they can be lifted out completely in a few seconds (or a minute) to give you 100% of the box for haling something large. The so-called "hard roll-up" covers are pretty secure too,
I just got a replacement due to the Ford cover starting to split. I'll never buy another one. When it's cold they're extremely difficult to roll and for some reason my replacement gets the felt strips caught in the joints. I personally can't wait to get rid of mine. I've even contemplated selling it for a huge discount just to be rid of it.
I like the simple fabric style roll-up covers. Although make sure you inspect the mounting rails. Some sit on top of the bed rail and some sit inside the bed rail. One type is more "low profile" but are more likely to get dinged up when using the bed for bulky items, tossing firewood in etc.
Hey Joe I have a 2015 Lariat. I got the Undercover Flex. I like that it doesn't the glass and you can drive with it folded up. My truck has BLIS and Back up camera and descent mirrors so seeing out the back isn't a big deal for me. When I have it folded up usuallybecause I have Hay roll in the back and can't see out anyway. They are pricey but very nice. I got lucky and got mine for $850 when I had the Line-X done, kind of a package deal. No leaks at all and a fully locking large trunk to boot. I'm 5'7" tall and with the 4x4 it's not too hard or heavy to flip up. ultimately I guess it comes down to what you're looking for in a cover. I wanted a hard cover so I could lock the bed.

Looks just like my Ford cover. like you most of the time if I have to fold it up the load is too tall to see around as well. Besides I have driven tractor trailer rigs, Vans and pickups with toppers on them so I rarely use the inside mirror anyway, not counting the times I drove old pickups the interior mirror had fallen off the windshield anyway.
I don't remember how many adhesive kits I have purchased over the years to glue them back on.
I am also strongly considering the BAK revolver....for multiple reason one being security, 2 it does not block the back window when rolled up. Iove the retrax but HATE that it takes up 10 inches of bed space....deal breaker for me. Does anybody with the BAK revolver mind taking some photos form inside the cab and out the back window with the unit rolled up? Will mainly be transporting my dirtbike when it is rolled up, and have looked at multiple photos and it does not seem that there will be any difficulty getting the bike in with the unit rolled up. Any idea how hard it is to take off should that need to happen?

Most of the roll-up variety of tonneau covers can be lifted out, leaving only the side rails. In that mode, they don't really take any fore/aft space. The electric ones generally do not lift out easily.
I've got this retractable BAK tonneau cover that I got off Craigslist for $300. A pretty good steal if you ask me.
WOW! That is a great price. I thought I did well getting a Ford OEM Trifold hardcover on Craigslist for $450. The guy I bought it from had just bought a Raptor (off the lot) and was having a custom cover made for it, so he was selling the OEM one. his truck still had the 30 days on it when I bought the cover.
I have an x4, no issues with it. Winter ice can cause some issues but that can happen with most. i use it with a ladder rack for kayaks and it works great with it.

I got it from a body shop that took it in for partial payment. I did have to make a few a brackets. But that was easy and less than $20 in material.
