Asked for any tips or pics of how others mounted their flatbed with only one reply about a week ago. Here’s some pics of how I did mine for anyone else needing some ideas.
Easy way to remove bed Cut to 45” truck frame is 38.5” and flatbed is 41.5” Measure hole widths in frame and drilled with step bit to accept 5/8” grade 8 bolts with lock nuts. Sry no pic for that. It’s hard to see but I made some 3/16 steel spacers from flatstock to space the two runners the correct height. Test drive after mountint it to go get more beer.
Me likey..well done, sir. The stock you used, was it 2x3? If so, why not use lumber?
Yes it is 2x3 10gauge steel. Lumber was not a consideration because I tow with that truck a lot. I need to have no worries when I haul my 30ft gooseneck trailer with a 8k front end loader on it.
Fair enough, brutha...looks awesome. I want one for the SC. Planned on welding one up but theres a white one in the fields off i40 here that im sure a bag of groceries would buy it. ..(hey chet, you reading this, keep your eyeballs to the right of the highway when entering Newbury Springs..lol)
I was thinking more along the lines of resinating. Lumber would counter that, but it be a trial and error. Nothin a 1/2" rubber mat squished between the metal stock, coulnt absorb.
Thanks for the write up! I'm thinking of doing this. Do you mind telling what the flatbed cost you? Do they make a flatbed that readily accepts a fifth wheel mount?

It’s a Bradford Built workbed model. I bought it from classic trailer sales in Springfield, MO for $2650 that’s no taxes cause of our farm tax ID. Not sure on the gooseneck flatbed but I have friends who put the adapter on their fifth trailers to go to the gooseneck ball. Heres another pic of it, I spent some time at the Fire House cleaning it up yesterday.
Someone stole the rust off of your truck. Is that a short bed? If so what are you going to do with it? I may be interested if it's available.
it’s a 2 owner southern truck, first home was Montgomery, AL and now Arlington, TN. The original owner was a older man who took really good care of it except for the leather(don’t think it was ever conditioned). I’m gonna hold onto my bed and tailgate. I just feel like for no more than I would get for it I could possibly regret it down the road.
