how fat is my '53

thinking about the final weight on my 53 with a dressed 460 mill. I figure about 3000#s for the truck and 800 for the engine... so just shy of 4k ??? any of you big block guys been over the scales ??

I'd be surprised if it's that much. Mine is under 3100 lbs with a flat V8, not exactly a lightweight engine.

460 is 640lbs
292 y block is 650lbs
I would guess 3000-3200

Ride tech has a list of weights on the web site, several f 100 weights listed. 3800 looks close!

My 50 F1 scaled out at 3000 pounds with a 289/C4 combo. I'm sure you could add 4-500 pounds with the bigger engine/trans combo, a/c and the tilt nose equipment. Do you have a fiberglass front end? That would shave some lb's there. You've got a lot of aluminum there, too, in place of cast iron as stock weighed. I'd be surprised if you were much over 3500.

I'll put my guess in at right around 3400lbs

Surprisingly enough the big Caddy engine isn't big. Weight wise, it only weighs 50lbs more than a small block Chevy. So, several hundred lbs less than a big block Ford.
Without Googling the numbers, I'm thinking the big block Ford is about 750lbs, the Caddy is somewhere around 550lbs.
