only going about 4 miles, can i get by with the transmission in neutral? it is an automatic.

There’s not a lot of other options for towing. Neutral is all you have to let it roll forward without power.

the brakes work now. i heard a noise as i was pulling it across the yard and decided to check the brakes and found someone tried to steal my brand new brake pads i found them on top of the leaf spring and the springs that hold the calipers was missing and a few of the lug bolts were rusty and stretched, that's all fixed now..

lost the keys but i popped the linkage off and put it in neutral and called aaa. the truck is home now.
