Hi I got a parts truck that has a 7.3 IDI in it. Question what cause it to pop out the intake? Is it a bad injector? Other then that motor runs good. Going to put it into my 86. Thanks Tony

 

My guess is valve train issues... stuck or broken valve, worn valve guide, bent pushrod, lifter problem... I'm not sure if a worn camshaft would do it but maybe...

Some guys who are smarter than me will chime in soon...

But the first thing i would do is pull the valve covers and have a look.

 

I was a little negligent...lol...I should ask...

When does it do it? Start up? Accelerating? Is it Constant? Only on Wednesday's when it rains?

Sounds like a weak lifter to me. Make sure its full of oil, if it is add a quart or marvel mystery oil, it helps clean the lifters.

 

Haven't had a change to look into it. Dang 11 days of rain sucks. But it does it start up and acc.. Thanks for the help a little lost. lol
