well i am new to this site and i am glad that i found it..Well I see that too many people are having trouble with the blend door motor, that ford refuses to fix..Well I am an unhappy owner of a 1999 ford expedition eddie b...and only has 79819 miles on it..and guess what the blend door motor is bad, went to the dealer ship to get a price on what it would cost to fix well a good $700.00..and the part only cost $79.00..How can we stop ford from ripping us off.I feel that ford should be fixing this problem, seeing that so many people have had the same exprience...Lets keep calling and writing the ford company and maybe we will be heard..Thanks to all my brothers and sisters,UNITED WE STAND,DIVIDED WE FALL.......LETS STAND FOR WHAT IS RIGHT....WE PAYING TOO MUCH MONEY AND NOT GETTING WHAT WE PAY FOR............
I just got my 97 Explorer back from the dealer and have been told that my blend door motor is also bad. Similar price to repair $780. Is there any way to fix this yourself? I was told that the price was so high because the motor is not sold seperately, and they have to replace the whole unit. I was looking in my Haynes manual and the blend door is not referenced. Is it something to do with the temperature cam? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
I got my 99 used and while test driving it found the air would switch to heat on its own. Dealer agreed to fix it. After removing the dash and center console it was the blend door motor. They had to order the entire section and had my expy for a week before it was put back together. I actualy saw it disassembled and it looked like a pretty major job since everything in the dash had been removed down to the metal frame.
My very handy dad is coming this weekend so if I can drag him from the grandkids for a few hours, we may give it a shot. I'll let you know how it works out.
