02 door ajar switch
02 door ajar switch
is there any way to determine which door ajar switch is bad by using autoenginuity or forscan, or any other program?
my 02 supercab has the light lit in the dash and spraying the switches has not worked turning it off...

Got tired of it. Lubed the little latch fork mechanism and it is better. Shoot some WD or other lube/cleaner into whatever hole you can find for the internal mechanism as well.
i have sprayed both doors numerous times and did the open/slam shut thing.
this truck is no longer a daily driver, and i would rather not have to pull both doors apart to change the switches.
because i know for a fact it will not be the first switch i attempt to change,.

i had a thought last night. the bad switch will not turn the light on when door is opened, because it is already closed.
so i tried this morning. passenger door open no interior light.
driver door open, interior light comes on.
so this tells me the passenger door switch is the bad one.

You already found it so I'm late to the party, but the 'self test' feature in the instrument panel will tell you which one it is. With the key off hold down the odo reset button and turn to run and keep holding the button 'till it goes into test mode. Then you toggle the button to cycle through different stuff and one of them is the door sensors, it'll tell you which are open closed. It displays them in a numerical code, you could find which number is which door or just open/close the doors and see which one doesn't trigger a change in the display.

Do they all have a test mode or do the later trucks have digital dashes and only those have it?
If it has a digital odometer it probably has the capability, my '02 Ex does.
Wrong. Late 99 analog odometer here in an XLT.
correct you all are. fat fingers here hit 9 instead of 0
04 was the start of all digital.
