Just received my gas filler patch from Mid Fifty and it's terrible . Could I have made one ? Yes but some of these simple things it comes down to time ,
I charge $50/hour in my shop so paying $ 59 Canadian for something that would take at least a few hours to make simply makes sense , saving my time for all things that can't be purchased . The panel is too short , has not enough curve ( this is easily fixable with my knee ) and absolutely no compound curve ( not easily fixable ) .
Be sure to let them know! I am sure they are just peddling someone else's part. I'd guess they'll just refund your money considering the Canadian shipping situation.
I have never purchased a patch panel for the gas filler but I have used many cab corner repair panels and just cut out the section I needed. Many jobs only need the lower cab corner section so the upper section is extra anyway. I appreciate your frustration...when you pay for a repair panel you expect it to fit ALL the curves.
Yes that was the original intention as the patch was not available until recently . But being in Canada the shipping is always a concern , as it was a $19 dollar part had $23 shipping and with exchange cost me a few cents shy of $59 Canadian .
Would you guys suggest I purchase a lower cab corner and cut out the piece to patch the gas tank hole instead of the patch panel? I plan on buying the seat foam for my '53 soon and was going to add the patch panel to the order from Mid Fifties.
Thanks, Ken..

As an update I did get a reply from mid fifty asking for pics and a description of the problem . I sent them the info and was told I could return it as all their stock was the same . So for another $23 American making my total around $90 Canadian to have a $19 dollar American credit . I told them I was throwing it in the garbage .
