I have a Lariat Sport coming in a month. No chrome bumpers....which means paint and rock chips. My 14 F150 FX4 has lots of rock chips on the painted bumper, hate it.
Any feedback on Clear Bra wrap for front bumpers? Spendy, but if it can keep the vast majority of the rock chips away.....
I vinyl wrapped my truck. Didn’t do the bumper. But did the grill bars. It’ll protect it. It was expensive and time consuming. The precut kits from Xpel were not well designed and I had to trim them. To include headlight covers. May ask for a refund on the headlight covers for bubbling in some spots. 3m’s newest stuff is very thick. A cutting wheel on a cutting mat produces the best lines if you do it yourself. Best thing I did was mock up brown paper to get my design. Then trace to vinyl and cut with wheel.
I'd like to get my hood done I was quoted $400 for a partial hood job.
is that normal?
The whole front end was $2K.
yes. Make sure you understand how much partial is...usually a 12” strip on the leading edge. As much time as it takes I would charge 2k for the front end.

khensley,
Congrats on the Lariat coming in! You'll definitely want to get paint protection AKA Clear Bra on the high impact areas of the truck. Check out the image attached as we've highlighted the impact areas of this F150. The F150 is one of the most popular models to protect globally. The majority of owners choose to protect the front bumper, side mirrors (if painted), rocker panels, door cups, and headlights. That said, many opt in (like you see in the photo) to protect the full hood and fenders as well. As your grill may have more paint on it, those areas can surely be done as well.
While pricing varies based on location due to labor rates, installer experience, and more, we're still happy to give a price range.
Typically for all of the coverage you see in blue above, it ranges from $1,895 - $2,495.
Hope this info helps, be sure to narrow your search down to a couple installers and ask to see examples of their work first-hand. This way you can gauge their workmanship, and their customer support quality.
just got my 2019 sport back, got the partial hood, front bumper, mirrors, front of fenders, grill, headlight and fog lights , as well as the front doors glass tinted. It was a friend of a friend and I did pay cash as promised during consult. He ended up doing the four door cups as well with some of the extra scrap pieces.
I had it done on my 19 platinum. The bumper, ‘door edge guards’, and hood/fenders about a foot back. $700 from the dealer, and they charged the dealer $500. Salesman asked if I wanted the mirrors and I said “sure” and he text me back not to worry as they are ‘chrome’; so I dont know if he saved some money on that. Mainly worried about the bumper in all honesty and highly recommend that.
I asked if they would quote a change order to no fenders and instead do the complete hood and they said $900. I stayed with the original option.
You can see the line along the hood and fenders when its dirty but it doesnt bother me.
