Looked before I asked and find conflicting information. I am the proud owner of an 04 excursion limited 2wd with the v10 and yes, I wanted the v10. Looking into installing the 05(?) to 2011 chrome spoke style wheels from the 250. Do I need spacers or not with it being a 2004 model. Info on the thread if indeed it is in this forum

Two things.........
Why would you NOT want a V-10!?
And yes, as my far away friend Coop said, you will need spacers (hubcentric) to have '05+ Super Duty wheels fit correctly on any EX.
thx for supporting the v10. I have to defend my self when everybody says why didn’t you get a diesel. They all begin with “better mileage, power, chicks dig it, “etc. Because I wanted a v10. Got conflicting info on spacers. Thought 04 and 05 didn’t need em. I know spacers have been around a long time and I also know many people wouldn’t dare use em. I don’t tow much and I feel that proper torque and utilizing high quality adapters that I should be fine. I searched for the exact color , rear captains and the v10. Took me a while but I’m very very happy with my decision. I just need to get the gas mileage up a bit but feel like a proper tune up, y pipe and tuner will get me what i need
The 04 should have the T-pipe, so that could be a nice upgrade, unless you do headers and a tuner from 5 Star to really make it bark.
Fuel Filter, plugs, MAF cleaning, and PCV valve may assist in your tune up. Take a look at the PCV elbow under the throttle body for cracking as well, common problem with these Engines. I've run Seafoam through my vehicles with good results, some recommend Berrymans B12. YMMV
Be sure to torque the plugs to 23-25ft-lbs. Factory specs are to light and likely the reasoning for plug ejections.
I also carry a Denso coil pack with me, they are the manufacturer for Motorcraft COP's but slightly less expensive.
Fabulous info and thx. All that planned with the exception of headers. When I called one muffler shop asking if he heard of the y pipe and me wanting to improve mileage he started with he couldn’t guarantee increase and when you gain one thing you may lose something else and exhaust is tuned from factory blah blah blah. I thought this guy must not like to sell aftermarket stuff! Thanks for playing dude, I thought. I never asked all that just if he heard of the pipe. Needless to say I’ll spend money else where. Fixed the rear heat problem which was me not operating it from the front correctly. All 4 back up sensors replaced . And never even noticed no antenna when I bought it. New antenna improved reception greatly. Have all the info for the tune up now. Thanks to all
All excursions will need 2" spacers to run 05+ Super Duty wheels. They have the same axles as the 99-04 Superdutys do. There is nothing wrong with spacers as long as they are hub centric, and installed properly. I have been using 2" hub centric aluminum spacers for 2 years without a single issue. No problems towing or hauling either.
Planning on going ahead with the high quality aluminum type similar to the one I had on my Jeep. If both are torqued properly and checked periodically I think I’ll be ok
These are the ones I am using, they have them for the front and rear in both M14x2 and M14x1.5 studs. Your 04 probably has the M14x1.5 studs, I believe they switched to that somewhere in 03. http://www.performancewheeladapters.com/new-category/
