Hi all. On one of my 07 E350s the door locks are trying to stay locked. It is my partner's van. He was stuck at a gas station trying to get the van unlocked. It kept re-locking itself. it is working against the remote. The guy at the station said to test the Body Control Module. Where is it and can I test it some way? Is it separate from the computer?
Thanks for any help.
I looked at some youtube videos. Am I right in thinking this has to be programmed? It looks like all the body functions like windows and doors and gauges etc. all go through this thing. The one video said it you turn the key on and then change the BCM, then start it without turning the key off first, it will program itself. Any truth to this? We are supposed to leave Sunday for a road trip and this could be a problem.
My 2000 E150 had the same problem, but mine kept unlocking at any time of the day, not locking like yours. I did a search on the issue and found many potential problems. Bad rear door lock switch, grounding out door cable, bad PCM, and other things.
I fixed it by pulling the fuse that controls the door locks. It's all manual locks now.
Thanks for the replies. We got back a few days ago but have not had time to figure it out yet. For whatever reason it stopped making the problem. I still have to figure out where everything is though and how it works so I can deal with it.
