power door lock problem

Hi all, I have a 2001 E150 conversion van.
Last night I stepped outside for some fresh air and heard the power door locks cycling by themselves.
I went to the van and saw that the door locks were unlocking with no input from my remote fob.
I disconnected the battery to stop the door locks from unlocking.
Has anyone encountered this problem and what is the fix?

Thanks in advance, Phil

I would suspect a failure in the key fob itself. Next time see if taking the battery out of the key fob makes it stop.

I know this is a decade old, but I'm having a similar problem, also with a 2001 E150 conversion van. Did you ever find the problem?
Mine started with not being able to lock the doors using the buttons on the doors (key fob and keys work fine), and now the doors randomly lock all at once, by themselves; sometimes with the keys not in the ignition, sometimes while driving. It's not cycling though, they just lock once and done.

Being it's a 2001, you most likely have a GEM module mounted on the firewall under the dash. The fuse box may be under there too, not sure on a van. But get under there and check for signs of water leaking in from the windshield and running in and around the modules under there. It can damage the circuit board.

You should start a new forum post in the Econoline van sub forum.

Your van has a remote keyless entry module that is probably failing. You can get electrical drawings here:

Here is the module.

Once you are in the Econoline sub forum others should be able to help.
