LED upgrades...

...time to convert in the 2 trucks in my sig. The Excursion will keep the all clear oem style 2 piece headlight buckets and just install led bulbs. The F350 currently has the same style buckets but they are smoked. I have not liked these from day one as they are very poor on light emission. I am thinking about getting the newer 05 Harley style headlight buckets for the F350, installing the led bulbs, and also installing some oem fog/driving lights with led bulbs. I will also be installing the 08 style mirrors on the F350 and noticed there is a company offering the 17 style in led to fit 03 up...but not sure how that side projector light is going to work though I like the idea of the puddle light. I see a good video on how to hook up the lights and heater given the F350 doesn't currently have this...but that's another thread. A couple of questions for you guys. I see where most have had good success with the Beamtech and Auxbeam fanless units and that's probably what I will go with.

Has anyone installed led bulbs in smoked headlight buckets...and if so, are you happy with the light projection?

Will a 9008 H13 bulb fit into a 9007 HB5...old 2 piece style...headlight bucket realizing the plugs are different and would just need an adapter harness? This way I could keep one style bulb for both trucks...

For the 05 light assembly upgrade...will the side reflector light socket on the truck (90* insert) work on the new light assembly? I see some offered with the light sockets (reflector and turn indicator) included and the reflector plug in is of the straight variety. I seem to recall a video of having to cut the light assembly if using the 90* socket.

It looks like the 9007 led bulb will be a tight fit given the large socket nut on the back of the light assembly and possibly have to be cut down.

Also, has anyone utilized a 9008 H13 pigtail by cutting out the 9007 HB5 socket and wired the new one in rather than utilizing the 2 ended harness? I am wanting to move the 9007 sockets from the F350 over to the Excursion since they have been problematic.

Looks like you’re in TX, so snow isn’t as big a deal as some Northern regions. I went this route, the light is incredible...
