15k Budget, 4x4 crew cab: 6.2 F250 or F150?

Hello. I am looking for a daily driver, with an emphasis on longevity. Truck tasks are light farm work that can easily be accomplished by either truck. My illogical bias is towards the 6.2, as I prefer the look of the super duty. Here are my questions:

1) With a 15k budget, it looks to me like both trucks are in the same mileage/wear and tear range. This is roughly 2011-2013 model years with 140-180K miles. Is this basically correct?

2) Is it reasonable to assume the super duty will hold up longer to highway miles and light farm work (ie, hauling light weight)? Specifically, I would think suspension components are the main player here.

3) Is the super duty significantly more expensive to maintain overall?

Thank you.

Hate to say it on here but; TOYOTA TUNDRA all the way. This one hit 1,000,000 miles with nothing more than routine maintenance, a water pump and one transmission rebuild;

Also seems like Toyotas are more "made in the USA" than Ford/Chevy/Dodge these days...

Thanks. From what I can tell 15K gets me a 2007 Tundra, vs a 2011-2012 Ford.

True, but you can run the Tundra until is has 250k on the clock and sell it again for $10-12k. A gasser Ford at that mileage will be ready for the boneyard. ...At least that has been my real life experience with both trucks. Diesels are a different story, but not so much in that 2011-2012 range... I don't think those were good years.

Nothing was wrong with the 2011 to the 2012 range super duty trucks. The 2011 had some issues with tranny programming, but any truck that you look at will have already had that fixed under recall. 140k on a 6.2 is nothing. A guy on here had one run to over 400k before having catastrophic failure. Yes, that is not 1 million, and everyone knows that Toyota last forever, but use a tundra like most people use a super duty, and it won't last any longer than the super duty will.

You will be toward the higher end of your mileage range with only 15k. If your okay with buying one that has 160-180k on it, then you shouldn't have to pay anymore than that, but if you are looking toward the 140k and below and the higher end models XLT, Lariat, etc., then 15k may not be quite enough.

I love my 6.2. Mine is 2014 F250 XLT SuperCab FX4. It has the fancy gauge cluster and dash, as well as camper package. Even though it is an XLT, it has every package that could be equipped without going to the lariat trim. I paid 18k. When I bought it, It had 129k miles on it. The 6.2 engine is a super reliable engine. You will not be disappointed in its power either. I had a 2001 7.3 super duty. This 6.2 will do everything that it did as good or better.

Tundra vs Ford

I wasn’t going to bring this up but since it’s already out there...I bought a 2011 Tundra SR5 double cab with 8’ bed and loved it. Sadly a teenager ran into me and totaled it. It had 98,000 miles when I bought it and had the extended heated towing mirrors and 4 leaf springs. I bought it to tow my RV. It was made in Canada and owners manual was in French.
After it was totaled I got a 2016 F-250 6.2L Supercab XLT with 8’ bed with only 4,600 miles
sadly I liked the amenities better on the Toyota. It also got better gas mileage than Ford - 16 compared to 11.7. It also came with sliding back window, rear bed light (independently) more space in back seat, etc.
The biggest plus on the Ford is the braking power.
I looked long and hard to find another 8’ bed Tundra but they are not around - kinda like the crew cab F-150 with 8’ bed.
while I really like my F-250 I think the Tundra would have lasted more miles with less repair
