Tailgate Wars
First GM...now Dodge. So when will Ford play the game? Thought the GM tailgate was kinda stupid but the RAM tailgate looks 'interesting'.

I don't buy a 70k truck based on the tailgate ladder. Buy I am not a marketing expert either. I ordered my 2019 6.7 Lariat and opted not to have the ladder option because it comes down from the rear, and is useless when I have a trailer hooked up which is the majority of the time I am getting in and out of the bed. Not to mention the 375.00 extra bucks. I opted for this 50.00 solution.

I like the functionality but don't think it will hold body alignment or smooth operation after 50k miles of regular or 10k miles of contactor use.
You really need a one piece structure that bridges the bed.

After mocking Ford via Howie Long, GM finally came out with their version and as usual, RAM is last.
The barn door design of the RAM was done by Lincoln with the Mark LT over 10 years ago.

It would not add function for situations like moving landscaping... just adds more cleanup.
And how pissed would you be if you lost functionality of your bed for a broken $1 upgrade?

I don`t think Ford has to play the game because both RAM GM are following Ford.

I like my tailgate step. I also think that the Ram and GMC gates are a great idea, but just don't see them holding up well in daily use. I wont be one of those sheep in the commercial trading my Ford over a tailgate. I need a truck that performs. And perform my Super Duty does well.
