I have a 1975 F350 with 390 engine.
This vehicle has a solid state ignition system amplifier module which might be defective. There is sticky fluid under it. The vehicle will not start.
I tried the usual auto parts stores, eBay, and the Ford dealer. No one so far has this part.
Does anyone know where I can get a replacement?
Thanks.
Module marked with ID numbers: D5AE-12A199-A1A or A1B or A2A or A2B or A2C or A1D or A2D
1975 F100/350, Bronco & Econoline and all 1975 FoMoCo Passenger Cars.
Note: While DuraSpark electronic ignition was introduced in 1974, not all had it until 1976.
btw: Be aware that inside the distributor is this: D4PZ-12A112-A .. Stator aka Magnetic Pickup Coil (Motorcraft DU-1A) / Available from Ford & auto parts stores.
ALL 1974/79 FoMoCo V8 vehicles with DuraSpark except 1979 LTD/Grand Marquis 351W with EEC (Electronic Engine Control aka on-board computer).
When this puppy fails, just like the module...the vehicle will not start. Most Ford techs replaced both the module and the stator.
Both the 1974 & 1975 modules were such turds, that Ford techs referred to DuraSpark as NeverSpark!
