Joe had good luck with 5 Star. I did not on 2 trucks with 6.2. I think you're going to get mixed reviews. For my results, it was money for a device and tunes that could have been better spent elsewhere or just stayed in my pocket.
You'll just have to take the experience of others and make your own decision. I'm not here to be a cheerleader or a staunch opponent.
My experience is mild power increase with 87 performance tune and agressive transmission tuning.
With 87 daily/tow slight power increase and mild transmission tuning.
Both tunes optimized the gear it was in and didnt force it to upshift (like when it goes it to 6th at a low speed driving through the neighborhood). You could tip in the throttle and get instant response.
Both tunes changed up some timing parameters and were noticeable when cranking the engine.
Only thing I noticed is when stock tune it seems to downshift faster when passing, very minor difference but I noticed it ever so slightly and it may be because it is jumping down 2-3 gears so in my head.
I prefer to run 89 and it will choke down 87 but the truck is well worn.
Just threw one of these on after I got it on the marketplace. World of difference. Every tune got rid of the lag. Performance mode is aggressive and powerful. Would definitely recommend
I have the 5 star 91 daily driven tune on my 6.2 Raptor. I do notice a difference and dyno results show about 12 hp increase, about 15 ft/lbs. Most say the trans shift strategy is the main reason for the tune. I have the 6R80 in the Raptor. I would think with more gears, perhaps the shift strategy on the 10 speeds would be more noticeable?
I had a tune on a 5.0 150 a while ago and it did seem more eager to get out of its own way, but I don’t think it had any more power (tough to add power to a naturally aspirated engine). I tuned it because I hated the stock shifting strategy, especially for towing. I started with More Power Tuning and ended up going with the Omega tune from TuningByOz. Unfortunately, he doesn’t make tunes for the 6.2, there seem to be a severe lack of tuning options for the 6.2 Super Duty. 5Star seems to be about the only option.

Threw one of what on? If you're having success, people might want to know the brand and which tune(s).

The title of his particular post says "Superchip Flashpak".
I haven't owned a 6.2L so I can't speak to that specifically. I had tunes from 5 Star on my 3.7L F150 and it made a ton of difference. I never dyno'd the truck, but 5 Stars dyno charts show that the peak gains are fairly small, but there are some points in the curve that see a near 40 lb/ft gain. Like others have said, the improved shift patterns and pressures make a ton of difference in drive-ability and response and was the main factor for me choosing an aftermarket tune.

Are we looking at the same thing? The title of this thread is Best Tuner for 6.2L?
And you didn't quote anyone so I had no idea what tuner you mean.
best tune is going to be in person custom tune to the truck. that way the tuner can see how the truck is reacting to changes. 5 star tunes will work for the majority of people. they recently posted a 2017 f250 with headers, intake and 87 octane made 378 whp/421 wtq when done on their in house dyno. i had them and even dyno tested the tune against the truck untuned, same dyno same day. I have since switched to a custom tune using HP Tuners software after adding headers. most of those pre installed tunes from companies like bully dog or superchips are a waste.
