Injector Cup Job

I'm going to replace all my injector cups this weekend. I have got the special tools and going to replace the o-rings while I'm in there. What type of Loctite do i need for the cups? Any other tips/advice would be appreciated. Thanks

My only tip/advice would be don't replace them unless you are certain they need to be replaced. Did you have fuel in the coolant?

I'm not sure if it's better to do just the one or two that are bad, or all of them. I do know that a lot of people screw this job up and end up having to do it 2 or 3 times over before they get it right. It's not easy! (not to scare you off, but you should be aware)

The loctite to use is green, you can check on riffraff site for specifics.

Definitely need new cups. Resovoir is overflowing with diesel. And it started running rough today don’t know why I think it’s might be another issue.

So I started it up today and moved it and it threw a code and now is running kinda rough , it has power but just seems shake more than normal. I tried reading the code with my reader but it wouldn’t. Could this be related to the cups leaking or is it a separate issue? The truck has 294k miles

Sounds like a separate issue. If it's running rough could it be missing?

The last time mine ran rough it was missing and threw a code. Turns out one of my injectors came unplugged.

So I tore into my injector job. I’m replacing all the orings and the copper washer things. The copper washer things that came with my kit, seem to be slightly smaller than the old ones. I was thinking about just barely filing the three “tabs” so that they can fit over the tip, it just use the old ones? Idrk what to do

Check Tugly's thread on the subject here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...tick-up-6.html
I struggled to get mine to seal - make sure you take time to really clean each bore once you remove the cups. I was not **** enough and it took several tries over several weekends.

The copper washers will be snug/tight, but they should fit. There might be some carbon on the injector that hangs them up a bit. I had to wiggle/twist a few of them to get them to slip on. I think you want to use the new ones, since they end up crushing a bit to seal the injector to the cup/bore.

How could one determine which cups were bad?

Once the injectors are out, pressurize the cooling system and wait for coolant to come through a cup.

None of mine were cracked. All eight of them had reseated and so they were all leaking (i think). I don't know if you would have been able to determine this by pressuring the system.

if fuel is leaking into the coolant at 50 psi then almost certain that coolant is going to leak past the cup at 16 psi test pressure.
