FICM

What’s the best way to replace ficm for a 05 ford 6.0? Sending it off to get redone or buying a brand new one? Any specific brands? Mines not a problem yet but I can tell the numbers have been dropping and just trying to see what’s the best brand or best thing to do. I was thinking about an Alliant power ficm 48v from kt performance website. https://ktperformance.net/i-15439487...-e-series.html

FICMs failing on 6.0L diesels is old news now. But as a Ford dealership technician who's replaced more than his fair share of them, of course going with OEM would be the best option. However, looking at the price of the unit in the link posted would be an extremely attractive option. I however, can't personally vouch for the quality of the product. If it means anything, I have yet to ever need to replace one a second time around on any truck. Keeping in mind too, it's been years since seeing too many 6.0L diesels coming into my dealership anymore.

We’ve repaired over 15,000 of these at this point and would love to add you to the list. While we have yours or send out a replacement on exchange, you could also have us put a tune on it to have you get a level of throttle response you’ve never experienced before!

Did you have a set of batteries or an alternator go south on you?

We are seeing increased numbers of FICM’s with low voltage numbers caused by issues with the logic board. Many power-side only fix places that can only offer ‘voltage warranties’ aren’t setup to repair the inevitable logic board issues that commonly quickly follow what starts out as a seeming only low voltage issue.

We have been a sponsor of FTE for years and would love to discuss in detail the differences in what you are getting from provider to provider.

I'll vouch for FICMRepair.com - FORD Powerstroke 6.0 FICM Repair, PHP Tuning and Truck Parts I had mine repaired by them and never had a problem after. Price is right compared to a new OEM and they will send you one when you purchase and then you send yours back that way your down time is not as long. I would call Ed, assuming he is still there, if you have questions.

Thanks for the kudos, Rocco. Yes, Ed is still there. In fact, I am Ed.

Campos - we can either repair yours or send you an already rebuilt one programmed for your truck if you can't afford the downtime. Give us a call at 515-897-4459 sometime this week and we'll go through the options!

I see Ed has already replied. Also, when you get time, go check out the 6.0 forum on this board. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum107/ They will be more exclusive to your truck when asking questions.
