Towing with D rated tire?

Anyone have success towing up to the limit with pro comp AT's? Though they are d rated, the weight rating (3195 lbs) is comparable to the same size e-rated tire. I have a 2013 F250 gasser. I have always towed with e rated tires. This truck rides rough unloaded. Would love to see a better unloaded ride out of it if these tires could also handle the loaded weight. Any thoughts?

If you don’t exceed the tire weight rating, you’ll be fine.

By the same token, if you have E rated tires and just don’t like the unloaded ride, air down your tires to 60 or so. That should make it more comfortable

Thanks Seville. I have tires aired down to 55psi and 1000lbs of sandbags in the bed. Still rides like a buckboard.

If you tow heavy (at the limit) with D rated you might find they will be a bit uneasy. One never knows. but agreed as long as you don't exceed the capacity you will be fine.

Thanks Senix. I have not stepped away from the E rated but I am tempted in order to get a more comfortable unloaded ride. Looking to see if anyone else has experience...

how did they ride unloaded?... though that may not be a fair comparison. My 03 road 10 times better than the '13... but could not handle as much weight.

Road great, wore fine too. But they are coopers, not the pro comps. I ran them at 60 psi if I recall,

When I traded for my 08 I got them again but this time they had e rated and I ran them at 70 psi front and 8o rear (traded up to a 5th wheel).

So my expertise is limited to the coopers which, imho, are a very strong tire...expensive though.

No, not much at all. Look though my 08 pictures, same tires.

I like the Coopers. My company runs Mastercraft on all our trucks. The owner of our tire dealer tells me all mastercraft are last year's Coopers. The factory just changes the name on the press.

running cooper at 3's now on my DRW. They see just as good but not as aggressive when it comes to off road. Worth a look.
