Would a bad GEM cause the wipers to keep running after they are turned off? They were running on slow intermittent but have now began to run at the next to the highest speed. I pulled the fuse for now but if it rains I will be stranded until it stops.
It is possible.
I would first take the GEM out, inspect it for circuit board corrosion due to a windshield leak.
The control switch functions are 'high' impedance points on the GEM board and subject to corrosion 'leakage'
causing odd operations. This can also happen to 4x4 functions because they are all GEM controlled.
The stock switch signals. the Gem to operate the wiper motor in all it's modes as does the dash switch signaling the GEM for 4x4 operations.
Good luck.
Thanks for the advice This is something that I never ran into before. A new aftermarket MFS did not help and some say it may be the motor not going back into the park position. I just don't want to throw parts at it so I will inspect the GEM for corrosion. Hope that is a cure.
