I just got my 2001 ford f350 and the wipers are stuck on high but I pulled the fuse and I tested the wiper motor and it's not the problem, the heater only works on high and i replaced the blower motor resistor and it's the same and I tested the motor and it also works, the 4wd doesnt work and I have manual hubs, I turn the switch to 4 high and 4 low and there is no click but I replaced the 2 relays do all of these pass through the gem module?
Heat doesn't pass through, so you've got something else going on there. I haven't had to do it myself, but apparently its not necessarily a huge deal to pull it out with the fuse box and throw it in some sort of drying aid. These trucks are know for their leaky windshields which cause all these GEM issues. In fact I don't think I've ever heard of a GEM issue that isn't directly related to moisture entering.
For what it’s worth, I just battled a GEM issue on my 01 F250... First I had this annoying door ajar problem that would click the dome light on and off, drove me crazy. I took the gem out and inspected didn’t really see much I tried to clean it all best I could and re assembled with dielectric grease. Problem went away for about a month then it came back but this time with the wipers on high no matter what I did. Followed a YouTube video on cleaning the wiper switch to no avail. Found another tutorial on FTE about cleaning the fuse box plates, (while the fuse box and GEM was out of the truck I took pictures of the part numbers) very tedious task I had high hopes but the wipers stayed on upon re assembly, went out on a limb and and tried to find a new GEM module. To my surprise the part is discontinued so I calle multiple junk yards finally found one with a really close part number my original GEM module was 1C3T-14B205-DB I found a replacement that was 1C3T-14B205-DC, I read online in the forums that the last two characters were revisions to the board. I was a little nervous to shell out the $150 they wanted for the GEM and the fuse box they came as a complete unit, but to my surprise the wipers function like they should and the door ajar hasn’t been a issue. I can’t say for sure if that will help in your case or not but there are a lot of smart people on here that can probably lead you in the right direction... my ESOF wasn’t working either and the previous owner added linkage and bypassed the ESOF and with a floor shifter I am confident if I was to connect the electric motors and what not to the 4X4 stuff it would work again just haven’t done it since I have the manual 4X4 now. I did find a leak in my windshield that I repaired I think the water fried my GEM or Fuse box one of the two. I wish you luck!

We had a truck in the shop. Customer wired up new mirrors with the blinkers on them and all of a sudden, his dome light, power windows, windshield wipers started acting up. Things didn't work unless you held the power unlock button. Pulled the GEM module as suggested, and it appeared fine with no water damage. There ended up being a fried wire in the bundle going to the GEM module. A lot of odd stuff all from one burned up wire. Keep your eyes peeled, might not be the module itself. Thanks, Guys.
