GEM Module

Wipers quit working. Checked the MFS and it is ok. My "new" mechanic said that there is a leak and the GEM module has gotten wet and needs to be replaced. Also, the fuse box/core has also been comprimised and needs to be replaced. He wants $650 to complete the repair. With nothing else being affected but the wipers it seems that things could be dried off, any corrosion removed, leak stopped and all should work. I have recently been in the fuse box and it looked dusty, but not wet. I am picking up the truck in the AM. Am I off base here or does $650 sound high for the work?? Either way, I think I need to spend some time under the shade tree. Any feedback is appreciated.

Fixing it may save you problems down the road. He's right in offering to replace them. But you have a choice. Unless I was a long way from home often or didn't have backup transportation (like taking the wife to work), I'd leave it alone. Fix it if it breaks when it breaks.

Thanks for the input. I figure I can stuff my self under the dash for a couple of hours before I spend the $650.
