My 03 X has chronic brake problems. most recently, I get both rear brakes dragging combined with a hard brake pedal. Might this point toward a bad master cylinder? I have put new brake calipers on this truck at least once every other year since I got it in 2010.new brake lines and hoses all around. Both rear brakes are dragging...in the past I'd have stuck calipers on one side only.
Replace the calipers and brackets at the same time, along with both rear rubber brake hoses and the one on the top of the differential to the hard line. That should take care of anything on the rear axle that will cause sticky brakes. If you can buy calipers with metal pistons. I can not remember if i got metal cups or not. The phenolic(spelling?) pistons swell over time if moisture enters the brake system. That bring up another topic! Bleed the entire brake system until you get clear fluid out of the lines all the way around!
You might want to double check the emergency/parking brake shoes while it is all apart.
Then when the fronts start sticking.....do the same thing minus the emergency/parking brake.
Powerstop brakes sell a nice kit rotors, pads and calipers..
I chased bad calipers and dragging brakes for a loooong time. finally replaced rubber lines and issues went away completely. the steel braid breaks down and the line will collapse. it will lock pressure in against the caliper.
