77 f150 351m. I have a crank no start condition. I have no spark from the coil when cranking. Occasionally, the instant I let off the key it will try to start. But that rarely happens.
How can I check to see if the duraspark module is signaling the coil to fire? I have a volt-ohm meter but not sure what type of signal it puts out to trigger the coil to fire. I figure I can work my way back from there to the pickup inside the distributor and so on with testing things. Thanks for any help.
Yea I hear the ignition module is a common problem but we’ve had the truck since it was just a few years old and it’s never been replaced. From the appearance of it it looks to be about as old as the truck!
I assume the way it works is the ignition module interupts the primary windings in the coil based on the trigger it gets from the pickup coil inside the distributor. Then this makes the secondary windings in the coil fire. So I should be able to check the primary wire at the coil to see if there’s an on-off signal coming from the ignition module. But I’m not sure if that’s correct or not.
