Question code 12 and 44

I've got an '87 F150 with the 302. I am getting a code 12 and code 44. I know the code 12 refers to the IAC, so I did the check procedure that is described in the Haynes manual. Everything seems to be fine except voltage to the IAC is said to be approximately 10.5 volts. I'm getting 12 volts. The resistance was about 11.2 ohms. Haynes says it should be between 7 and 13 ohms. Can anyone help me?

Also, I can't find what a code 44 stands for.

Thanks.

From my Sunpro code scanner book:
Code 12- "System cannot raise engine speed above normal idle"
Code 44- "Problems in Thermactor Air Control system"

What does that mean? Is that related to the IAC and code 12?

Nevermind about the stupid question. I found Thermactors in the Haynes manual. I guess I've got some reading to do. Does the high voltage reading to the IAC point me to computer problems?

I'd recommend correcting/clearing the '44' code and then re-checking the IAC system. The high IAC reading may be caused by the ECU trying to compensate for a different faulty component.

Well, I got the code 44 figured out. I'm a little embarassed to say what the problem was, but I will anyway. The bypass valve that is just after the air pump was on backwards. It's kind of hard to work that way. Anyway, I turned it around and now I've got no code 44. My 12 code has also gone away. I'm not sure why, maybe it was related to the 12. Thanks for all the help.

Well I did an engine running test last night and the code 12 is back. Does anyone know if I should be concerned about the supply voltage to my IAC? Mine is 12 volts and Haynes manual said it should be approximately 10.5. The ohms were within range.
