On my 1996 F250, 5.8, I want to change the positive battery cable. After it leaves the starter it goes through an opening in the frame. Is there a clamp in there holding it in place.
OK, just to review, on all previous versions, the hot side cable is an assembly. (your 96 SHOULD be the same)
It is the battery to relay, a molded, 2-terminal piece that holds it & the relay to starter wire, starter power wire AND the O2 sensor wire in a split loom that comes out in a plug on both ends.
See relay on fender wall:
The MIGHT be a "christmas tree" push tab that holds the split loom to the frame. (can't remember for sure)
The ground cable has a pig-tale that goes to the fender, a tab (for sure) that attaches to the frame & a lug that attaches to the block.
