I've been having a problem starting my truck and have noticed alot of green corrosion on the soleniod connetions where the + cable and the trigger wire connects. I've decided to change the + cable and went to NAPA for a new one.
They need to know the length of the cable...i guess i could crawl underneath and use a string to measure it but thought i'd try here first. Does anybody know what the factory specs are for the length of the + cable with a top post battery? I know it comes off the + post and there's a short one that runs to the relay mounted on the inside of the fender and the other runs to the starter.
Just a little bit of an update...NAPA didn't have the complete + cable harness and they couldn't get it from there supplier...so i took a shot at the Ford dealer $208.00. So i went back to NAPA and picked up one length at 48" from the battery to the starter...and another 18" from the + side of the battery to the relay and another 48" 14 gauge trigger wire from the relay the the starter. $35.00 out the door and 20 minutes work. I don't know how the dealers can charge so much...just because it says Ford on the cables?
