Newer Factory hitch question
#16
I have an 05 F-250 SWB Crew Cab, can anyone tell me if I can install the 2011 & up factory gooseneck/fifth wheel hitch under the bed??? I have a lead on one and have searched to no avail on info for installing in anything earlier than a 2011 before I drop the money on it.
It's the factory pt# BC3Z-5F057-A, I'm just trying to figure out if I can bolt this in or whether I have to go a different route.

It was the Ford puck system where the bed is clean when hitch is taken out.

Be sure to take and post photos of your install, as your question gets asked every once in a while with increasing frequency, as more and more people realize the quality and convenience of the Ford underbed hitch platform and want to retrofit it to their older trucks, rather than buying a new truck.

The truck had a B&W pop up gooseneck setup when I bought it. It's out and now for sale.

The Ford hitch prep kit BC3Z-5F057-A is in and fits just fine. Here it is laying on the frame.
And bolted down.
And with the bed cut.
Tigging up the B&W hitch hole.
Here's the final product with the plastic installed.
While the hitch fits just fine, you do need to take the bed completely off to do a proper job of marking and drilling the 8 holes in the frame. You will need to install and remove the bed several times to get proper clearance on the hitch and to mark/drill the 5 holes in the bed.
The clearance between the front of the hitch and the rear of the fuel tank shield is pretty close. About 1/4" on my truck. I have the 38 gallon tank according the the window sticker. At the rear of the hitch, clearance between the hitch and the under bed reinforcement channel is also pretty close. About 3/8" on mine.
I have more pic's if anyone needs them.
