if you had a factory mount, how are you going to attach ? Are you saying the frame all around the mount is in good shape ? I had the rear 6 inches of frame rot where bumper bolts on.. had to make new plates that were several inches LONGER and plate over the area to get back to good metal for a mount............. you might have to adapt or have someone build a longer mount to reach good metal or get more bolt on area ?
The frame is in very good shape. Where the shock is mounted is toast and snapped in half. I thought I could just replace the mount only. It appears to me that the part I need is not available anywhere. I believe I will have to junk the truck.
Any possibility you have a decent boneyard nearby that might take a good one off for you? If not, do you have a metal fabricator around that could make something for it. Or a body shop might have some skill with that. More than likely, instead, a restoration shop. Just a few thoughts for options. Would hate to see you have to junk the truck for one thing that may have a solution.
I do weld and could get it made at Fab shop. I just thought I would be able to buy that part. They make bolt on shock mounts for all the trucks I've dealt with but this one. This truck has 220,000 miles on it and has a few other issues. I use it to go hunting in very rough mountain roads to camp and will miss having it. It has original clutch, shocks, and still runs great. Thanks
