Need some shock help/ideas
Ok well as im about to replace my rear shocks i get the bottom bolts out of each lower shock mount and when i go to take the nut off the upper mount i realize that both upper shock mounts are completely rusted away and have about 1/2" worth of rusty metal holding them to the frame. I need some help on what to do about a new Rear upper mount. I was thnikin just getting like a heavy duty stud and running it through the frame in place of the oem mount. Would that work? obviously it would be secured to the frame very well. Or should i just go ahead and order new upper mounts off the internet? Or has someone out there ran into this problem before and had a clever fix?

Don't waste your time fabbing up replacment shock mounts, go for new upper mounts. JBG has them, IIRC they were <$20 ea and an easy repair. Search this site, I wrote something on grinding and pounding out the rivits ~2 years ago. You will want to use 7/16-20 grade 5 or 8 hardware when re-assembling, loctite too...
