I have an interesting electrical issues. My TBC randomly goes into fault and then clears itself. It doesn't throw a code, but this morning when I started the truck the TBC faulted and I noticed the brake lights were illuminated. I checked the brake light switch and it wasn't that causing brake lights. Later when I stopped for fuel the brake lights were off and the TBC want in fault. I am thinking there might be a shorting issues in the wire harness in the back. Anyone have this problem before. BTW I have an 05 F350.

I assume you have a TBC that connects directly to the standard Ford TBC connector via an aftermarket PnP wire harness. I had a similar problem years ago with my ‘95 Suburban. Bad TBC. A friend had an ‘02 Ford pickup with a similar problem and he had a bad TBC. If the TBC is turning on the brake lites with no other input, chances are a bad TBC.

Check the 7-way plug in the brake and make sure there is no dirt or corrosion between the pins.

I wanted to follow up just to let you know how I ended getting my brake controller to work. I started by following the Workshop Service Manual and tested all the different connection from the controller back to the 7 pin connection. By following the steps, it narrowed the error down to having to replace the TBC. So instead I sent to out to CircuitBoard Medics get repaired and that took of my issues.
